It
is a pleasant job to write about the village called Alanchy, the southern part
of India. The people who live there religious minded. The majority is Catholics
and the minority is Hindus. It is a well-developed village having many shops, a
school and a big church. Most of the family men are masons and few of them are
government employees. The patron saint of the church is St. Francis Xavier.
People of the soil have got great devotion to the saint. The Christian religion
has played a vital role to develop the culture of the people. It was the
missionaries who gave them education. Today they are independent in their
thinking and doing. The young generation of the soil is very vibrant, dynamic
and active. It is good to be the son of the soil.
